More than 400 corals in our house reef

Stella Maris reef
In December 2015, we out planted the first corals in Curaçao; 5 Staghorns and 2 Elkhorns. Since then, we have been working hard on this project to have already more than 400 corals out planted in Stella Maris, our house reef.
During this period we have been out planting with different techniques: marine epoxy, mostly, but as well with zip-ties.
On June 4th, Coral Restoration Foundation Curaçao was part of ‘Coralpalooza’, an international event happening simultaneously in Bonaire and Florida Keys. In one day, we could out plant more than 200 corals. Students from the International School of Curaçao, professional divers from Atlantis Diving Curaçao and tourist volunteered in this event. And more than 30 people worked and out planted corals in our house reef.
Since then, with our team of volunteers and dive professionals we have been out, working in the nurseries and putting corals back in the reef. It’s a piece of hard work, but very rewarding. You should come give us a hand.
